kelly threw brian a surprise 31st birthday party. the first picture says it all - i managed to surprise him alright. a ton of people came to our friends chris and trudy's house, including brians parents from portland, makiko from new york, sara and laura from portland, and dave klotz from chicago.
because this was likely the best collection of our friends we were likely to ever have in one place at one time, I also too the opportunity to ask brian to be my man forever. it's purely a symbolic thing 'cause we can't get married, but it was very meaningful to us both. with the crowd's permission, we exchanged rings and signed the domestic partnership paperwork. it's a day i think we'll both remember for the rest of our lives.

^ the big crowd.
