After leaving koko's apartment so she could pack, we moved to the other side of town to the historic chelsea hotel. It's a registered historic place. This hotel
has been home for some of the best writers, musicians and visual artists of all time. Janis Joplin, Thomas Wolfe, Bob Dylan, Edie Sedgewick, Jimi Hendrix, Arthur Miller, Mark Twain, Claes Oldenburg, Dylan Thomas, and Sid
Vicious have all stayed here, some for years at a time. Musicians love the place because most of the walls are 3-foot-thick slabs of concrete. Many of the rooms are still apartments, and even our room had a kitchenette. The
hotel is full of lots of great art (often provided as rent by poor artist tennants) and character too. It's on two good subway lines, so it was easy to get around from here (23rd between 7th and 8th).
