From Amsterdam, we travelled by train to Koln ("cologne"), ran over two tracks, and continued on to the little town of Karlsruhe. Our friends Jonathon and Kathryn live here (Jonathan (aka JC) is Kelly's old cycling buddy). JC is contracting here for a local aerospace company and for porche; their real home is in Seattle. JC took us to the spas in Baden-Baden.

Downtown Karlsruhe. The town has highly advanced trams, some of which include dining cars.

Kelly got his first taste of Leberkaes, a local delicacy and the german version of a spam sandwich. It was pretty darned good.

Here is JC at work. The schematic is for a jet engine exaust system; he very precisely designs the fan blades using math that no mortal could understand. We saw blades like this in real life at the deutsches museum.

Karlsruhe also as a big 2 story VW dealership, which we HAD to stop at. Here's Kelly with the new 3l Lupo.

Brian also did a bit of driving using JC's Golf. Unfortunately traffic was aweful wherever we went.
