It's a good hike to the top. So much so, one tour guide works the bottom floor, and another works the top, and they just stay at their posts all day rather than climb it with the visitors. The cast-iron victorian-style stairs have a lot of details, as you can kind of see in the shadow in front of the window, below.

The cable you see running up the center is tied to a heavy weight that originally made the lampworks turn, sorta like a grandfather clock. Very nifty.
