This year for our Third Anniversary/Brian's 30th Birthday/Valentines day, we travelled along the coast northward to Point Reyes, and then on to Point Arena/Mendocino area. Each night we enjoyed great food and deeeluxe accomodations, which is good, 'cause there wasn't a lot else to do in these towns other than drive, soak in a tub, read, eat, and sleep :-). Oh, we started this all off with massages as Castro Day Spa accross the street. If you want, you can compare this to last year in Calistoga.

In Point Reyes, we stayed at the Blackthorne Inn. This B&B is kinda like a big tree house. The living room was very cozy.

A short drive from the Inn is the Point Reyes National Seashore, a huge park full of ranches, beaches, and (here) herds of elk.

<< More of the Inn, including the firepole.

>> Brian on the stormy southern limantour beach.

Sunday and Monday nights were spent at the Coast Guard House Inn in Point Arena. Once again, no phone, no TV, no nothing 'cept great breakfasts and this nifty japaneese-style soaking tub for two. We spent most of our time driving around to the local towns, and gorging ourselves on valentines day special meals (seven courses to seven poems, and stuffed pheasant/roast duck). Another wonderful romantic getaway!
