Oct 3-8,2000 is "fleet week" in san francisco. We went down to the waterfront to see what it was all about. We saw lots of boats, sailors, marines, and loud planes doing stunts and skywriting. But the best thing we saw we got to ride - An english open-top streetcar. Brian and I have seen this car around the city only a few times in the years we have been visiting and living here, and had never gotten to ride it before. It's like having a city-financed, chauffered, vintage convertable. It was a beautiful day, the sun overhead, the onlookers many. A great way to spend a sunday!

The car from the front. It's actually double-ended, but muni uses just one end.

Fleet week at fisherman's wharf. despite an A's, Giant's, 49er's, and Raiders game, the waterfront was still packed.

Us boarding at Fisherman's wharf.

A very happy couple riding down market street!
